The Songs Of The Land

Thank you to Charlie Cox for letting me use his beautiful image of the night sky for my artwork. This shot was taken on Round Island, a beautiful little island in Poole Harbour.

There is something incredibly magical about standing outside and looking up at the night sky. I can’t really explain it, but I think this song manages to touch on it a bit.

It’s a very simple song. But I think that simplicity can be incredibly powerful and incredibly beautiful, too. It was supposed to be much simpler, however…

I initially intended to have this song acapella, recorded with the sound of the night. I’m very lucky that where I currently live, the soft hooting of an owl and its distant respondent can be heard most nights (and even one very early morning as I left to watch the sunrise on the equinox.) However, it turns out that it is very difficult to record general ‘outside’ noise… So I completely changed how I was going to present this song, and this is what I came up with!

I hope you enjoy it. Feel free to listen to it and sing along whilst stood under the starry night sky and a full moon…
